Unsnap is two things: a free desktop app that fixes your Snapchat Memories export on your own computer, and a paid online restore that does the same job on our servers for $9.99. These terms cover both, without the legalese fog.

The free tools

The desktop app and website tools are free, provided as-is, and run entirely on your device. Keep a copy of your original export — the app works on a copy and never modifies your original files, but backups are on you.

The online restore

One payment of $9.99 buys one restore job: you upload the export zips Snapchat sent you (up to 30 GB), our automated pipeline restores dates, locations, and captions, and we email you a download link. Your download stays available for 7 days after upload, then everything is permanently deleted — so download your restored archive promptly.

Only upload your own Snapchat export (or one you have permission to process). Don't use the service for anything unlawful.

Honest results, not magic

Restoration is based on the data actually present in your export. Every restored file gets a confidence rating in the included report, and we never fabricate a date or location we can't justify — which also means some files may not be fully restorable. That's the report being honest, not the restore being broken.

Refunds: our failure, your money back

If your restore job fails and we can't recover it, you get a full refund — we'll email you, and you won't need to chase us. Refunds aren't offered for change of mind after a successful restore, since the product has already been delivered. Whatever happens, the dispute and refund protections Stripe gives you as a cardholder still apply; nothing here takes those away.

When a payment is refunded, the job's files are deleted immediately.

Unsnap is an independent tool that repairs metadata in the export files Snapchat gives you. It is not made, endorsed, or supported by Snap Inc. "Snapchat" is a trademark of Snap Inc. Unsnap never touches your Snapchat account — it only works on the export you already downloaded.

The unavoidable fine print

The service is provided "as is" to the fullest extent permitted by law. Our total liability for anything arising from the service is capped at the amount you paid us. We may update these terms; the date at the top tells you when we last did.
